Ramadan Family Dinners
For the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims, Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer, closeness to God, family, and community. It is also the perfect time for Muslims to invite their neighbors to get a small taste of Ramadan through iftar dinner, which are the meals that break the fast.
The Atlantic Institute invites people from different faiths and communities to join in the communal breaking of the daily fast with the local host families around Central Florida every evening between June 6 – july 5,2016.

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast by abstaining from consuming water or food while the sun is out. Iftar - or fast breaking - dinners take place each night once the sun sets. This is an important time not only for those who participate in Ramadan because of their faith but also an important time for muslims to share their tradition with friends from different backgrounds over delicious food and through lively conversation. It is truly a special time when people of all backgrounds come together and share in the Iftar experience, learning about different cultures and faiths in the process.
This year Ramadan will start on June 6 and we will begin offering the Iftar dinners every day from June 6- July 5. If you attended our Iftar dinners in previous years, you are more than welcome to attend again, as many of our guests do so.
We look forward to hearing back from you!
