Keynote Speaker: Dr. John R. Vile
Dr. Vile is a Professor of Political Science and Dean of the Honors College at Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. Vile earned his B.A. in Government from the College of William and Mary and his Ph.D. in Government from the University of Virginia. He has been teaching at MTSU since 1989, and served as Dean of the Honors College since 2008. He's previously served as the Political Science Department Chair at MTSU, as well as a Professor of Political Science andDepartment Head of Social Sciences at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Dr. Vile is a scholar of the constitutional amendment process, having written extensively on it and related topics. The American Mock Trial Association awarded Dr. Vile the Congressman Neal Smith Award in 2000 for outstanding contributions to legal education, and named him to their Coaches Hall of Fame in 2008.
Dr. Vile kindly accepted the role of keynote speaker on short notice, after our previously scheduled speaker Mr. Elliott Ozment passed away suddenly on Tues Oct 16, 2018. We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Nashville community and Mr. Ozment's loved ones.
