Dialogue and Friendship Dinner
The Atlantic Institute’s annual “Dialogue and Friendship Dinner” was held this November 12th at Knoxville’s downtown Marriott. Dinner attendees included members from the City Council, government officials, university professors, businessmen, advertisement companies to community leaders. The evening was started with a reception that featured live ebru (water marbling) demonstrations and live music.
The dinner was started with an introduction to the Atlantic Institution’s mission and events. The introduction was followed with a presentation by Mary Constantine from the News Sentinel about Turkey. After dinner was served, the keynote speaker, Dean Rice who is Chief of Staff in the Knox County Mayor’s office, delivered an inspirational speech on the topic of "Peacebuilders Against Violent Extremism". Following the keynote speech, random participants were asked to share an experience on how a multi-cultural event or person impacted them. These participants shared personal experiences that pleased and moved all dinner attendees. The dinner ended with a special thank you to all attendees and the wish to see them at the next dinner.
