Iftars – Fast-breaking Dinners

Spread the love

Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer, closeness to God, family, and community. For the world’s 1.8 billion Muslims, it is also the perfect time to invite neighbors so that they can get a small taste of Ramadan through iftar dinners, which are the meals that break the fast. Breaking their fast together with friends and sharing that special time with their community is especially important for Muslims during Ramadan. In addition to breaking fast, iftars allow us to remember the blessings and gifts from our God and the importance of hospitality.

These gatherings are a beautiful expression of loving your neighbor. They also give us a chance to better understand and empathize with  people in need from around the world. The Atlantic Institute invites people from different faiths and communities to join in the communal breaking of the daily fast.
