The Atlantic Institute Alabama proudly hosted an exploring event on religion. Jim Gordon was our quest speaker and presented the topic of Exploring Faiths: Introduction to Buddhism.  

Jim Gordon, Zen Buddhist Priest at Green Mountain Zen Center.  He became a Zen Buddhist in 1991, and was first ordained in 1998 at the Atlanta Soto Zen Center.  His teacher is Zen Master Bomun (George Bowman), a monk at the Furnace Mountain Monastery, and the founder of the Single Flower Sangha. Jim founded the Green Mountain Zen Center in 1993, and the zendo on Green Mountain was built in 2004.  He has performed several Buddhist initiation ceremonies, as well as over a dozen weddings.  The GMZC holds four Sesshin, or meditation retreats, per year, and has Zen meditation services twice weekly. Jim holds B.S. in Physics from UAH. He has graduate work in Physics and Mathematics and worked in aerospace R&D with lasers, adaptive optics, and IR technology.
