SUMMARY:Atlantic Family Iftar Dinners during Ramadan 2017
DESCRIPTION:During the month of Ramadan\, Muslims fast by abstaining from consuming water or food while the sun is out. Iftar – or fast breaking – dinners take place each night once the sun sets. This is an important time not only for those who participate in Ramadan because of their faith\, but also it is an important time for practicing Muslims to share their tradition with friends and neighbors over delicious food and through lively conversation. It is truly a special time when people of all backgrounds come together and share in the Iftar experience\, learning about different cultures and faiths in the process. \nThis year Ramadan begins on May 27 depending on the moon sighting. Our host families will begin offering the Iftar dinners every day between June 2 – June 18. If you attended our Iftar dinners in previous years\, you are more than welcome to attend again\, as many of our guests do so. \nIt is our hope to be able to host you during this special time. We look forward to matching you with a local host family! \nPlease admin@theatlanticinstitute.org for any questions or concerns. \nNote: Fasting is not required for guests. Information about the host family\, their address\, phone number and professional affiliation will be shared with you as soon as we finalize the family matching process. \n

SUMMARY:Table of Abraham: The Role of Women in Abrahamic Religions
DESCRIPTION:The Table of Abraham program was held April 22\, 2015.  The event offers a panel discussion with representatives from each of the three Abrahamic traditions (Christianity\, Judaism and Islam).  Each representative gave a brief interpretation of the topic “The Role of Women in Abrahamic Religions” from their own background followed by a collective discussion of the topic.  We were honored to have Rev. Libba Stinson\, Courtney Ferriter\, Nighet Ahmed\, and Sevgi Kucuktas as our quest speakers for the evening.  Through our time together\, we acknowledged the importance for prayer\, interfaith dialogue and the positive role both play in society.
