Atlantic Family Iftar Dinners, Ramadan 2017
As the Month of Ramadan (May 27 - June 25th) approaches, we would like to invite you to attend an Iftar (fast breaking) Dinner with local host families around Central Florida area.
Family Iftar Dinner program aims to provide space for people of differing religious and cultural traditions to get-to-know one another in the cozy intimacy of each other’s homes and seeks to build community through casual conversation over a delicious meal with the motto "Open Doors, Open Minds, and Open Hearts".
During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast by abstaining from consuming water or food while the sun is out. Iftar - or fast breaking - dinners take place each night once the sun sets. This is an important time not only for those who participate in Ramadan because of their faith but also an important time for us to share our tradition with our friends from different backgrounds over delicious food and through lively conversation. It is truly a special time when people of all backgrounds come together and share in the Iftar experience, learning about different cultures and faiths in the process.
Our host families will begin offering the Iftar dinners every evening between June 2 - June 24. If you attended our Iftar dinners in previous years, you are more than welcome to attend again, as many of our guests do so and encourage another family to attend with you.
It is our hope to be able to host you during this special time! We look forward to matching you with a local host family.
Please contact us for any questions.
Note: Fasting is not required for guests. Information about the host family, their address, phone number and professional affiliation will be shared with you as soon as we finalize the family matching process.
