2015 Atlantic Institue Iftar Dinner
During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast by abstaining from consuming water or food while the sun is out. Iftar - or fast breaking - dinners take place each night once the sun sets. This is an important time not only for those who participate in Ramadan because of their faith, but also it is an important time for practicing Muslims to share their tradition with friends from different backgrounds over delicious food and through lively conversation. It is truly a special time when people of all backgrounds come together and share in the Iftar experience, learning about different cultures and faiths in the process.
Even though Atlantic Institute is a non-religious organization, over 90% of Turks are Muslim and we thus host Iftar dinners every year for the community during Ramadan. Again, we are organizing the Iftar dinners during Ramadan 2015.
Ramadan begins on June 18, 2015 depending on the moon sighting. We offer a Iftar dinner on June 27th, 2015 (Saturday) @ 8:15pm. If you attended our Iftar dinners in previous years, you are more than welcome to attend again, as many of our guests do so.
It is our hope to be able to host you during this special time. We look forward to matching you with a local Turkish-American family!
Please contact us for any questions or concerns.
Note: Fasting is not required for guests.
