On Wednesday, October 7, the Atlantic Institute hosted a talk titled "Jihad on Jihad: The Crisis of Isis," and Jihad Turk spoke about combating extremism from within Islam.
Jihad Turk was a pivotal figure in the establishment of Bayan Claremont, a graduate school in California educating Muslim scholars and religious leaders, and currently he is the standing president. Jihad's field of research focuses on Islamic Law with an emphasis on usul al-fiqh, or jurisprudence as well as theology. His current interests also include identity formation in the American-Muslim community, interfaith relations, Islamic reform movements, and community leadership and development with a focus on youth..
